Peterson Pacific Corp. is a heavy equipment manufacturing company.  Peterson's equipment includes, but is not limited to, portable delimber/debarkers, combination delimber/debarker/chippers with loaders, recyclers (hogs), blow trucks, etc.

 Perform welding and fabrication of heavy equipment parts to complete assemblies or subassemblies of heavy equipment. Will work with a high attention to safety processes and procedures, read and follow all blue prints, production procedures, and work orders to meet production standards and quality expectations. Will coordinate work tasks with other departments, such as Engineering, and/or work units to improve work standards, quality and efficiency. Will follow all safe work operation procedures and processes. Will properly utilize all PPE as required.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (MAY INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO):

 WELDER/FABRICATOR

  • Read, accurately follow, and translate all blueprints and production drawings.
  • Weld steel components with welding equipment as specified by layouts, engineering drawings, work orders, or verbal instructions.
  • Work includes set-up, laying out work using jigs/fixtures or hand layouts to fabricate parts and/or rework finished products.
  • Inspect and correct welds as necessary to meet product specifications.
  • Willingness to cross-train and perform the work of other job tasks in addition to the primary assigned position.
  • Inspect equipment to maintain functional equipment if any equipment needs repairs notify supervisor/lead or maintenance department.
  • Operate forklifts, hoists, hand power tools, slings, grinders, cutting torch, and other hand tools related to the jobs needs.
  • Other duties, responsibilities, and qualifications may be required and/or assigned as necessary by Department or Shift Lead.
  • Perform welding & fabrication of heavy equipment parts and assemblies to meet established quality standards, production procedures and efficiency expectations.
  • Flexible may work in different work cells to maximize production as needed.
  • Reliable and dependable to ensure smooth production operations.
  • Work as part of a team coordinating work and assisting in the fabrication or welding of multi-component parts.

SAFETY

  • Proficient in promoting safe and healthy work environment.
  • Notifies supervisor of product discrepancies or equipment malfunctions.
  • Adheres to established company policies and procedures paying special attention to safety regulations.
  • Report defective materials, equipment, or questionable conditions to the supervisor/manager to identify and correct the root cause.
  • Wears personal protective equipment in accordance with training guidelines.
  • Separates scrap or waste materials for recycling, reuse, or environmentally sound disposal.
  • Maintain cleanliness in designated workspace by practicing 6S principles to reduce safety risks.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and ensure that all company safety procedures are followed to include OSHA compliance guidelines applicable to the duties above.
  • Attend a weekly department safety meeting.

 SUPERVISORY AUTHORITY

  • No supervisory authority for this position.

 INTERNAL CONTROLS AUTHORITY

  • No internal controls authority for this position.

 QUALIFICATIONS:                                                                                                

Experience/Knowledge

  • Minimum of 3-5 years welding &/or fabrication experience with similar parts, processes, and welding equipment and procedures.
  • Overhead and Jib crane experience required.
  • Continue to grow lean knowledge and use the tools to identify and assist with continuous improvement.
  • Fork lift experience preferred.     
  • Ability to apply concepts such as basic math skills, fractions, micrometers, percentages, ratios, proportions to practical situations, and able to convert decimals into inches.
  • Must be able to read and interpret a tape measure, blueprints, and bills of material (BOM's).

Education

  • High school diploma general education degree (GED) or some previous work-related experience is a plus; or a combination of education and experience equivalent as deemed sufficient by management.

Levels of the Welder/Fabricator Position

Levels will be determined based on education, experience and equivalents.

Welder Trainee W1

This is the beginning level. The employee works in a learning capacity performing a range of welding and fabricating duties while receiving close supervision.  Experience of 2 years or less with heavy equipment production line welding.

Welder/Fabricator 2 - WF2

This is the intermediate level. The employee works in a developing capacity with increased responsibility for performing a range of welding and fabricating duties, typically will receive limited supervision.  Experience of 3 years or more with heavy equipment production line welding.

Welder/Fabricator 3 - WF3

This is the experienced level. The employee performs a full range of welding and fabricating duties including but not limited to fitting, joining, fabricating, repairing, troubleshooting problems, and using considerable independent judgment to interpret and apply work guidelines with considerable latitude to specific situations. Experience of 7 years or more of heavy equipment production line welding.

Welder/Fabricator 4 WF4

This is the senior experienced level.  The employee performs a full range of welding and fabricating duties including but not limited to fitting, joining, fabricating, repairing, troubleshooting problems, and using considerable independent judgment to interpret and apply work guidelines with considerable latitude to specific situations.  May independently make decisions in the absence of a Supervisor or Lead.  WF4 may have the responsibility to mentor and train the two lower level welder/fabricator positions and provide supervision on various duties.  Experience of 10+ years or more of heavy equipment production line welding.
